Hundreds of dachshunds expected at ‘Pup Up Cafe’ in Nottingham

Hundreds of dachshunds and their owners will converge on a North East cocktail bar for a unique get-together next month.

The popular Pup Up Cafe will be staging an event at the Revolution Bar in Newcastle, on August 21, with almost 150 adorable sausage dogs already booked in.

There will be treats for humans and their pets alike, with a variety of local dog businesses represented.

Pup Up Café was created by Marcus Ackford and it is run with partner Jessica, of Devon, four years ago.

Marcus said: “We have run about 150 events all over the country with loads of different dogs of all different types of breeds.

“This will be our first time in Newcastle and we are quite excited about coming.

“Usually we end up with around 200 to 250 dogs at each event. We’ve got everything to keep dogs busy, as well as the humans.

“So we’ve got ball pits free puppuccinos behind the bar. There will also be a photographer taking professional pictures of people and their pets, along with lots of local doggy businesses.”

“It’s a chance for the dogs to socialise, which is really important, and for the people who can talk about the breed they share a love for and their experiences.”

The event will have hydration stations and all the cleaning facilities if there are “accidents”.

Those wishing to attend should pre-book. There are also a limited number of “regular human” tickets for people looking to buy a dachshund or find out more about the breed.

The day is split into sessions and those who have booked will be informed by text before the event, what session they are in.
