Nottingham’s pup up cafes are returning to the city for an pawsome mix of coffee, cake and canines

Nottingham is set to welcome not one but two pop-up dog cafes in April as Pup up Cafe returns to the city. The events are perfect for dog owners, dog lovers and those looking for a hit of serotonin.

Previous events in Nottingham saw over 200 visitors and their pets join the sessions but this time, there are designated time slots. The events will be held at Nonsuch Studios on Lower Parliament Street on April 22 starting with the dachshund pup up at 10 am. The cafe will then swap over for a pug and Frenchie cafe at 2 pm.

The tickets will allow visitors to mingle with the furry friends which could see up to fifty dogs in each session. Pup-Up will provide doggie delights, otherwise known as treats, for all the four-legged attendees while Nonsuch will offer refreshments for their human companions. There will also be free puppuccinos on offer throughout the day.

Photographers will also be on hand with prizes for the best-dressed dogs. Not to mention there will be ball pits, sadly just for dogs not humans too. Owners will be able to pick up some accessories too with dog-related trade stands.

Founder and ‘dog man’ of Pup Up, Marcus is delighted to be returning to what he sees as the event’s furever home at Nonsuch. Marcus comes from an event background but realised one day that he didn’t enjoy being surrounded by drunk people which led to the creation of the cafe.

“Event running in my blood and it is what I love doing but I didn’t enjoy clubs. I thought about what I did enjoy which was dogs and wondered if there was a way to combine the two,” he said.

“The event is for people who own specific breeds of dogs to come along and chat. Shoppers and local businesses can come along and have a bit of fun with their dogs. Non-dog owners, we call them regular humans, can come along without a dog and we have a limited number of tickets for those but we often have people who come along because they want to get one of those breeds in the future.”

He added: “We also get people who just want an hour and a half of serotonin. We’ve been to Nottingham a couple of times in different venues but we have found a future home in Nonsuch because it’s such a big open space with wonderful food and drink too.”
